Senior Electrical Design Engineer

The Opportunity:

A growing consultancy are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a highly regarded Building Services consultancy delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of prestigious projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to take ownership of projects, work alongside industry-leading professionals, and contribute to technically challenging developments from concept through to completion.

You’ll play a key role in leading electrical design, mentoring junior engineers, and developing strong relationships with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of building services projects from concept through to handover.
• Produce detailed electrical designs, specifications, calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Design electrical systems including:
• LV power distribution
• Lighting and emergency lighting
• Fire alarm systems
• Security and access control
• Data and communications
• Renewable and low-carbon technologies
• Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers and external consultants.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and site inspections.
• Ensure compliance with current Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Support the delivery of sustainable and energy-efficient building solutions.
• Assist with fee proposals, resource planning and business development activities where require

About You:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations and relevant design guidance.
• Experience using industry software including AutoCAD, Revit and electrical design packages such as Amtech, Dialux or Relux.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Strong project management and organisational abilities.
• Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) would be advantageous.
