Electrical Design Engineer

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading Building Services consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering technically complex and innovative engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, working on high-profile projects across London and the UK. The role offers excellent exposure to major commercial office developments and mission-critical data centre projects, alongside opportunities to work within other sectors.

This position is ideal for an engineer looking to develop their technical expertise, take ownership of project delivery and progress their career within a supportive consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce electrical building services designs from concept through to construction.
• Design and specify electrical systems including:
• Low voltage power distribution
• Lighting and lighting controls
• Emergency lighting
• Fire alarm systems
• Data and communications infrastructure
• Security and access control systems
• Standby power and UPS systems
• Prepare calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers and specialist consultants.
• Attend design meetings, client meetings and site inspections.
• Ensure all designs comply with current Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
• Assist with project planning, programme management and technical coordination.
• Support senior engineers in delivering projects to agreed budgets and timescales.
• Contribute to sustainable and low-carbon building design solutions.
• Develop strong working relationships with clients and project teams.

About you:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience within a Building Services consultancy.
• Good knowledge of electrical building services design principles.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Revit and electrical design software such as Amtech, Dialux or Relux.
• An understanding of British Standards and UK Building Regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive approach with a desire to develop professionally.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
